POSITION DESCRIPTION:
System Engineer III, Sr. Windows/Linux/VMWare/Data Center
Position Specific Accountabilities
•• Setup, install and maintain server hardware and operating systems for new projects and hardware. Demonstrated and strong knowledge with server operating systems including Windows Server 2003 and 2008, Red Hat Linux 5.x and VMWare. MCSE/MCSA and/or RHCSA/RHCE and ITIL Certifications strongly desired.
•• Design and develop architecture for MS Exchange, Active Directory and other Microsoft centric technologies. Assist with future technical planning and ability to lead implementations of enterprise wide technologies.
•• Architect, design, and develop enterprise strategies for server technology, configuration management, and rapid deployment of physical and host operating systems on physical and virtual hosts such as VMWare, stand alone and blade technologies. Knowledge HP, Dell and Cisco Blades a plus.
•• Ability to identify hardware and software related failures quickly and perform root cause analysis to resolution; ability to triage and resolve system configuration issues; ability to function independently and work cooperatively as part of a team.
•• Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information, including creation of policy and server documentation.
•• Ability to work independently or in cross functional teams at high level. Strong knowledge of industry security best practices as it relates to systems engineering
•• Perform compatibility/interoperability integration and validation of Solution stacks' HW and SW building blocks, including OS, Database, Middleware and Application tiers. Strong understanding of thin and thick client applications within a virtual environment.
•• This role may also include responsibilities in writing scripts to automate testing and solution stack deployment. Hence, knowledge and experience in scripting languages like Shell, Perl, Python, etc., are all pluses
•• Strong customer service and collaboration skills and ability to communicate effectively and timely regarding issues and/or work around and status as it pertain to ITS service portfolio. Ability to develop a project plan and communicate effective to various key stakeholders.
•• Strong understanding of data center operations to include power, HVAC, rack configuration, cable management, environmental management and capacity planning. Participate in on-call off-hours support rotation. 24/7 support of servers in on-campus data centers.
•• Some knowledge of cloud computing architectures as it relates to VMWare and other virtualization architectures. Familiarity and with various enterprise backup architectures. Storage and enterprise monitoring tools.
•• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Technology Administrator III will be responsible for:
•Procurement, maintenance, and management of assigned hardware/software.
•Recommending and ensuring compliance with all policies and standards for hardware/software.
•Responsible for management of assigned hardware/software and associated network/communication requirements.
•Recommend, research, and implement hardware and software that supports financial data requirements.
Essential Job Functions:
•Perform mid to high level analysis and follow-up concerning security controls and updates (e.g. VMware and Microsoft).
•Perform mid to high level support and troubleshooting of network connectivity.
•Ensures compliance with all hardware (IBM and HP Blade) and software policies, standards and practices.
•Maintain, acquire, upgrade and repair all system hardware and software (i.e. system “cycling”, installation and initial testing of all system patches, updates, and “fixes”, etc.) as assigned.
•Perform mid to high level daily monitoring of system performance and capacity. Adjust system configurations to accommodate required loads and functionality.
•Perform high-level duties including hardware support, software support, and request fulfillment.
•Maintains comprehensive documentation concerning all assigned systems including Standard Operating Procedures, operating records and problem logs.
•Install system connectivity hardware in credit union facilities as required.
•Maintain and modify operating systems (Windows 2003/2008, Linux) to obtain maximum efficiency, security and reliability. Assist Technology Engineer in performing mid-level system utilization and cost analysis of existing, proposed and new equipment configurations.
•Assist Technology Engineer in maintaining system-related hardware and software and diagnosing sources of system problems.
•Evaluates, recommends and implements new system technology to improve efficiency and productivity.
•Administer security requirements for all assigned applications and participate in security reviews/audits.
•Recommend and ensure compliance with all hardware and software policies, standards and practices.
•Provides technical support and 24x7 administration for all systems as assigned.
•Administers system hardware requirements and oversee maintenance, repair, and upgrades of all systems.
•Provides comprehensive communication concerning system status.
•Coordinates required resources to resolve all disruptions in system service.
•Ensures that all equipment is functioning according to specification and all redundant systems are operational.
•Assists Technology Engineer in planning, organizing, and controlling projects associated with the development, installation, testing, and implementation of systems as assigned.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Storage Administrator is responsible for:
maintaining enterprise level storage infrastructure, NetApp devices, fibre channel switches, tape libraries and Linux servers. A successful candidate will have 2+ years’ experience in enterprise level storage administration. A strong background in Unix/Linux and Perl scripting is required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Deploy, manage and support NetApp storage infrastructure
•Design, troubleshoot, and support enterprise backup environment
•Develop and maintain scripts to automate management of storage systems
•Part of an on-call 7x24 support rotation
•Some travel required (Southern California and San Jose/Bay Area)
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS:
•Minimum 1 year experience with NetApp technologies- clustering/HA, snapshots, SnapMirror, etc.
•Minimum 2 years’ experience with Unix/Linux in an enterprise environment
•Storage management skills- SAN, fibre channel, zoning, etc.
•Filer/SAN NDMP backups using EMC NetWorker or Symantec NetBackup
•Experience in managing and troubleshooting shared storage tape libraries
•Working knowledge of DNS, NIS, & NFS.
•Demonstrated capability to develop in Perl and/or shell.
•Excellent communication and organizational skills
EDUCATION:
•Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience
•NetApp & Red Hat Linux certification is a plus
